  • The French and Indian War

    The proclamation forbade all settlement west of a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains.
  • The Sugar Act

    It was a revenue raising act that was passed by the Parliament of Great Britain.
  • Stamp Act of 1766

    The stamp Act raised the cost to colonists when they bought land grants, and when sharing or publicizing property rights.
  • Townshend Acts of 1767

    They made new taxes and took away some freedoms from the colonists.
  • The Boston Massacre

    In the Boston Massacre British soldiers killed five townspeople and injured locals.
  • Tea Act

    They got granted the company to ship its tea directly to the colonies without first landing it in England.
  • Boston Tea Party

    American Colonists dumped 342 chests of tea, imported by the British East India Company into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Punitive laws were past by the British Parliment
  • 1st Continental Congress

    During this time they organized colonial resistance to Parliament's Coercive Acts.
