  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian happened on May 18, 1754. This happened because the British wanted to move over into the French territory but, the French wouldn't let them. The French and Indian War was important because the British doubled up the taxes on the colonies. The British won the French and Indian War.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was because of the British. The British wanted more land from the Native Americans. The British wanted to avoid having wars with the Natives so they issued tthe Proclamation of 1763,this all happened on the frontier. This didn't go well with the Colonists though. They ignored the Proclamation and it proved that it was impossible for the British to enforce it.

    The Treaty of Paris was made on the Tenth of February in 1763. For the kingdoms of Great Britian, France, Spain, and Portugal had an agreement. This treaty ended the French and Indian War. This marked the beginning of an era of British dominance outside Europe. The French territory was lost in North America to the British. This treaty brought the colonies closer to their British cousins.

    The Sugar Act is an attempt from the British to put new taxes on the colonies created on April 5, 1764 it put a duty on products like molasses and put severe punishments on smugglers the colonial merchants sometimes traded smuggled goods protested against it and got angry. The taxes were put on very highly used products like sugar and molasses which was about to expire.

    On year later, Parliment passed the Quartering Act. The purpose of the Quartering Act was to save money, to enforce the Proclamation of 1763 they kept aroung ten-thousand soldiers in the colonies. THe British troops provide them food and supplies. The Colonies protested them angrily, once again the colonies complained that they were violating their rights.

    The Stamp Act was ont of the more unpopular laws. The Stamp Act passed by Parliment in early 1765. This act required that all colonists buy special tax stamps, for all kinds of activites. The Stamps had to be put on newspapers, wills, licences, insurance policies, land titles, contracts and other documents.

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was when the few British soldiers that we there when it happened killed five men. The British were in Boston to to protect and support high-rated colonial officials. In time a mob formed around the soldiers and they started to yell at the "Shoot!". Things between the Colonies and the British were tense, this is why the mob formed. The few soldiers that were there started to fire and killed five men. No one knows if it happened because of survival or for the taunting.

    The Tea Act happened on May 10, 1773, it was made by Parliment to reduce the amount of tea to the British East India Company in its London warehouses. Colonists mobilised the opposition to delivery and distribution of the tea. This resulted in the Boston Tea Party in Boston. The Tea Act was mostly made by Parliment to get more tea for themselves.

    The Boston Tea Party all happened because the British decided that the colonies needed tax on tea. The British and East India Company were the ones who controlled everything that happened with the tea. The Colonies thought they were violating their rights so they got into the Boston Habor and dumped tons of tea. This all resulted into the Coercive Acts from Parliment, that didn't settle with the colonists well either.

    The Boston Port Bill is what happened after the Boston Tea Party. The reason the Boston Port Bill was established was because of the Boston Tea Party, it was a punishment for what they did. This bill stated that they couldn't step on the Habour of Boston, and they could confiscate any goods or items. People in America and New England started to send tons of food as a show of solitary, this bill became one of the Intolerable Acts.

    The First Continetal Congress
    The First Continental Congress were five delegates from every colony except Georgie. The First Continental Congress started on September 5, 1774. They were in Philadelphia, Pensylvanis at Carpenters Hall. The purpose for the Continental Congress was to establish a political body to represent American interests and challenege British control. They were proud of this congress, considering there were only five people.

    The Declaration of Independence was a written version of the "American Dream". The Declaration of Independence was written for, in Jefferson's words, "In order to place before mankind the common sense of the matter in terms so plain and simple as to command their assent." The people thought it was a great idea, the most important document in history.
