    Magna Carta

    King John signed the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta was signed in Runnymede heer winsdor castle.The rights were limited to the kings power.It was the first document forced onto a King of England by a group of his subjects in attempt to limit his laws and protect their privleges.
  • Mayflower Compact

    The purpose of the Mayflower Compact was to promise to write a constitution within five years, Establish freedom of religion, To establish a new King, and to proclaim allegiance to the King. It was the first governing documen of the Plymouth Colony which freed them from religious persecution.
  • Petition of Rights

    Constitutional document that sets out specific liberties of the subject that the King is prohibited from infringing. Contains restrictions on non-parliamentary taxation, forced billeting of soliders, imprisonment without cause, and restricts the use of martial law.
  • English Bill of Rights

    William and Mary signed the English Bill of Rights. The rights given are basic human rights. It lays down limits on the powers of the crown and sets out the rights of Parliament and rules for Freedom.
  • Albany plan of Union

    Benjamin Franklin suggested the Albany plan of Union. It was proposed but voted down everywhere it was presented.Join or Die is a popular political cartoon associated with the suggested meeting. It was proposed to create a unified government for the thirteen Colonies.
  • King George III

    As a result of the war King George III Taxed the people of the colonies causing them to hate on him. King George III was always in series of military conflicts that involved his kingdoms.
  • French and indian War

    French and indian War
    The major players involved in the French and Indian war were:Great Britian, British America, Iroquois Confederacy, France and New France, and Native Americans. Some Major Battkes include:Batlle of Fort Bull, Battle of Fort Necessity, Battle of Quebec, and Battle of Quiberon Bay. The British colonies and Iroquois Confederacy won the conflict. The war changed the colonists relationship with the British because the damage left from the war caused Britain to heavily tax the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    During this event five colonists were killed. The townshend act and Stamp act were both being enforced that led to this historic tragedy.British troops without order fired into a crowd instantly killing 5 colonists and injuring 6 others.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The political group who organized this event was Sons of Liberty. The Bristish responded to the Boston Tea Party with the intolerable act. It was a political protest against the tax policy of the British government and the East India Company that controlled all the tea imported into the colonies.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Its a series of punitive laws passed by the British Parliament relating to Massachusetts after the Boston Tea party. The acts stripped Massachusetts of self government and historic rights, triggering outrage and resistance in the Thirteen-Colonies.
  • First Continental Congress

    The Major personalities involved were George Washington, John Jay, Patrick Henry, John Adams. As a result of theis meeting they established the Decleration of Independence. This event took place in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • Second Continental Congress

    This event took place in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. The idea behinf this was for independence. Ben Franklin, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson, and Henry Middleton. Moved toward independence by raising armies,directing strategy, appointing diplomats, and making formal treaties.
  • Lexington and Concord

    They were the the first military engagments of the American Reveloutionary War. The battles marked the outbreak of opened armed conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain an its Thirteen Colonies in the mainland of British America. Francis Smith, Major Picairne and Lord Percy were some of the Generals. Paul Revere Warned that the /british were coming.
  • Declaration of Indpendence

    It is a statment adopted by the continental congress. Declared our Indpendence from Britain and we were no longer part of British Empire.
  • Start of Constitutional Convention

    It was a convention to adress problems in governing the United states. It had previously been operating under the Articles of Confederation following independence from Grea Britain.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Was an Agreemnet among the Thirteen founding states that established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and served as its first constitution. John Hanson was the first president under the articles.
  • Stamp Act

    The items taxed as a result were newspapers, pamphlets, almanacs and playing cards. The colonial leaders were outraged by this act. It was applied on the colonies and had to be paid in British Currency
