    The proclamtion of 1763 prevented colonists from settling on the west side olf the appalachian mountains. It made the colonists feel resentment twords the British because they felt like there prize in return for all the fighting had been snatched away from them.

    The Boston Massacre was a street fight between a patriot mob throwing snowballs and a British squad. Three patriots died in the fight. Paul Revere made a engraving of the scene making it look like the patriots were defenselss. That engraving caused many to join the patriot cause.

    Located on Lake Champlain in northeastern New York, Fort Ticonderoga served as a key point of access to both Canada and the Hudson River Valley during the French and Indian War. On May 10, 1775, Benedict Arnold of Massachusetts joined Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont in a dawn attack on the fort, surprising and capturing the sleeping British garrison. Although it was a small-scale conflict, the Battle of Fort Ticonderoga was the first American victory of the Revolutionary War,

    Cornwallis arrived with his troops in Trenton on January prepared to defeat Washington's 5,000 troops. with his 8,000 Redcoats. Washington knew better than to fight them. and Cornwallis knew Washington would try to escape but he was left to guess at what way Washington would go. Cornwallis sent troops to guard the Delaware. But Washington didn't go that way. Washington's group met the rear gaurds and defeated them. The British left New Jersey deciding not to waste troops trying to retake it.

    Washington lead the main body of the Continental Army against Hessian soldiers stationed at Trenton. After a brief battle, nearly the entire Hessian force was captured. It inspired many soldiers to enlist or stay longer.

    In March, General Nathanael Greene was appointed head of the Commissary Department and food and supplies started to come in. By April, Baron von Steuben began to transform the troops into a fighting force. By the spring of 1778 they were refreashed and ready to fight.

    In the battle the British troops spilt up and planned on surprising the colonists from both sides. But the British were slowed down by the landscape and they didn't know where they were going. So that gave the colonists time to get prepaired. When the first wave of British arrived the colonists surrounded them forcing them to surrender. Convinced France, Spain, and Holland Patriots could win the war so they started giving formal support and supplies. It renewed support for the cause.

    George Washington leads his forces to Yorktown, Virgina and 5,000 troops blocked Cornwallis escape by land. The Frech naval fleet blocked the escape by sea. After three weeks of non stop fighting day and night Cornwallis surrendered.
