    In Boston the colonist were watching , in the darkened country side rang with gunshots and church bells which were arranged before hand as signals sent from town to town so they can know that the british was coming
  • Lexington

    The king troops reached Lexington Massachusetts. When they heard the town they saw the 70 minuteman drawn up lines on the village. Eight minuteman were killed and ten more were wounded , but only one british soldier was injured. The battle of Lexington , the first battle of the revolutionary war lasted only 15 mins.
  • Bunker Hill

    british general Thomas gage sent 2,400 british soldiers up the hill , colonists held their fire until the last minute and then they began to mow down the advancing red coats before treating. The colonists had lost over 450 men. The british suffered over 1,000 casualties.
  • New York

    British forces under general William howe defeat patriot forces under general george washington at the battle of brooklyn. At the battle of Brooklyn , the americans suffered 1,600 casualties to the british loss of only 400 men.

    General John Burgoyne planned to lead an army down canada to albany , where he would meet the british troops as they came to new york city. Burgoyne did not have the fellow british officers because they were preoccupied in philadelphia.
