    The French and Indian War
    War fought between Great Britain ,the French ,and the Natives of North America. George Washington fought with the British in this war, which lasted from 1754 to 1763. The brits won.

    The Sugar Act
    1764 Act that put a three-cent tax on foreign sugar and increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and certain wines. It banned importation of rum and French wines. These taxes affected only a part of the population, but the affected merchants were pissed. Taxes were raised without the consent of the colonists. first time colonist wanted a say on taxes

    The Stamp Act
    The colonist f First direct tax on American colonist. Newspapers, pamphlets, and other public and legal documents had to have a British seal on it. The colonists did not think they should have to pay for something they had never had to pay for before, and they responded with demonstrations.

    The Stamp Act gave the colonists a target for their rage. Indeed, the Sons of Liberty was formed in response to this Act. The Stamp Act Congress also gave the colonists a model for the Continental Congress.

    Townshend Acts
    Series of laws named for Charles Townshend(Treasurer). These laws added new taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. The colonist were just as mad as the stamp act and eventually the Brits revoked the acts, besisdes on tea. In response to the sometimes violent protests by the American colonists, Great Britain sent more troops to the colonies.

    The Boston Massacre
    Shooting of five American colonists by British troops. An African man named Crispus Attacks, was killed. Nearly every part of the story is disputed by both sides. Did the colonists have weapons? The British say rocks and other such weapons were hurled at them. But the British had guns, and they did open fire. The Boston Massacre only strengthened the patriots cause and got more folks on their side. The British made themselves look even worse.

    Pissed at a new tax on tea, American colonists calling themselves the Sons of Liberty and disguised as Mohawk Native Americans boarded three British ships (the Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver) and dumped 342 whole crates of British tea into Boston harbor. Tea is boycotted throughout the colonies.

    The First Continental Congress was a group of fifty eight delegates, who none of were from Georgia. Two groups of people who gathered from the thirteen colonies. . Georgia didn’t meet until 1774. They gathered to do something about the intolerable acts; but they had to meet in private so that Great Britain's king would not find out

    The Brits decided to march to Concord because there was an arms depot. British troops who were in Boston and had to march to Concord had to pass through Lexington. “The Shot Heard Around the World” happened that day, and no one is sure who fired the first shots but both sides open fired. This was not a victory for the Americans, this only slowed the british down: By the time the Redcoats got to Concord, the Americans were waiting for them in force.     They met in 1775, when the American Revolution just started. It did not look good for the americans, their military was a mess. The Continental Congress created the Continental Army and named George Washington as commander-in-chief. They also were the reasons for, The Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Marines Corps.

    HE was the first president. He lead the Continental Army in the revolution. “He was named president of the Constitutional Convention. He served two terms as president”. After serving his second term he and his lovely wife Martha retired in Mt. Vernon, where he died.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Two day battle between the American Forces and the British. “The Americans had occupied Breed's Hill in Charlestown on June 16, 1775, in order to protect the shipyard of nearby Boston.” The brits attacked the Americans but the Americans having an advantage because the hill defeated the british. They redcoats suffered a severe loss. Even though it’s called Battle at Bunker Hill it was fought on Breed’s Hill.

    Two very popular pamphlets titled, Common Sense and The Crisis circled the Americans and sparked the patriots cause. Thomas Paine was not only an author for he served in the War.
