This siege on Boston is one of the most significant battles in all of the Revolutionary War. The British won this battle, but the colonists put up a great fight, which boosted confidence for them. A major leader for the Colonial Army was Colonel William Presecott and the British had Major General William Howe.

This battle took place in New York between around 8,000 British soldiers and mercenaries versus 2,900 colonial troops. The General commanding the British was General Lord Howe, and the General of the Colonial Army was General George Washington.

This battle took place in Princeton, New Jersey. 7,000 Colonial troops were led by General George Washington. 8,000 British troops were led by Major General Lord Cornwallis. The Colonists technically won the battle because they managed to outmaneuver Cornwallis's tactics, so they could escape on the Delaware River. This battle allowed Colonial Forces to leave New Jersey so they could later return to take the colony over.

This battle took place at the border between North and South Carolina. 1,000 Colonial troops were led by Colonel Daniel Morgan against 1,100 British forces led by Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton. The Colonists won this battle, and not only did it boost moral, it set the Americans up for a victory in the war.

The last significant battle of the Revolution occurred in Virginia at Yorktown. There were 8,800 Americans and 7,800 French being led against 8,000 British troops. George Washington commanded the Americans, Lieutenant General de Rochambeau commanded his French Army, and Major General Lord Cornwallis commanded the British Army. The Colonists obviously won this battle. This was the final main victory for the British and ended the Revolutionary War with a victory for America.
