The British Acts

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act of 1764, entailed that sugar would be heavily taxed. This made most sugar filled products more expensive, including American Booze. This act, like many others, was done because the crown was broke from the french Indian war.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The stamp act stated that all legal papers needed a "stamp" to be authentic. The catch was that this "stamp" costed money and any even documents that were officiated before the act was passed needed it too. This act, like many others was passed because the Crown still needed funds.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act made it so American colonists had to accommodate to British guards, witch meant giving them housing and food when ever they requested it. This act was passed because the crown still needed funds after being left near broke at the end of the French Indian war.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    The Townshed act taxed a plethora of items such as; glass, red led, white led, painters color, tea, and paper. This Act was put into place as retaliation for how the American Colonists were rebelling against the other Acts.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The tea act entails that British tea has a huge economic value. This made tea extremely expensive and it also gave tea merchants a lot of power over the economy. The act was passed because the crown still needed funds and thought it fit that the Colonists pay them.
  • Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act

    Intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act
    Boston Port Act says that NOTHING could be come to or from Boston port. This was considered one of the "intolerable" acts that lead the Colonists to rebel. The Act was passed as a punishment in hopes that the Colonists would calm down.
  • Intolerable Acts: MA Government Act

    Intolerable Acts: MA Government Act
    The Administration of Justice Act states that none of the government officials could palace judgment on a crime with out the crowns consent. This act was passes once again as a punishment to the rebelling Americas.
  • Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act

    Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act
    The Quebec act entails that all territories, islands, and con tires in North America, now belongs to the crown of Britain. This was not done not as a form of punishment but it still had a negative effect on the Colonists.
