    Aprol 18,1775, 700 british troops left to boston. they were sent to seize the arms and capture important colonial leaders. A signal was sent by the patriots. then Paul Revere and William Dawes rode through the night and warned the minutemen. when the British arrived 77 minutemen were waiting. the britsh told them to go home. the minutemen refused. then a shot rang out which was turned out to be the first shot of American Revolution. A bigger battla was happening int concord 400 minutemen fought

  • Fort Ticonderoga

    fort Ticonderoga was located at the southern end of LAke Chhamplain. leading the force was Ethan Allen a blacksmith. His followers came from the nearby Green mountains. A force of 83 men. the men came at night and surprised the british when the woke in the early morning.42 British troop guarded the fort. they surrenderd almost immediately. the fort was important because it controlled the main route between canada and the hudson river vally. it also had valuable weapons like cannons

    the Americans had 10,000 troops surrounding boston. 1,600 of the troops occupied Breed's Hill. FRom the hill they could fire on the BRitish troops. the Americans surrounding boston were farmers and workers not trained soldiers. the Americans waited until the british were only 150 feet away when they opened fire. The frirst and seconed British attacks failed. the third attack succeeded becaus the Americans ran out of ammunition and had to retreat the british won more than 1,000 killed or wounded

    the man was George Rogers Clark and he was from Virgina. He captured two Mississippi River out posts, kaskaskia and cahokia. clark and his men traveled through icy floodwaters up to their chest. their attack caught the british by surprise. british and the Native Americans surrendered. the victories allowed settkrs to remain on the frontier

    the American's navy was bigger. the cannon and musket fire ripped the sails of both ships and blated holes in their wooden sides. jones refused to give up. finally a dozens of sailors dead on each side. the captain of Serapis surrendered. A Privateers were armed civilian shipd that had their governments permission to attack rnrmy ships and keep their goods

    the two men that led the Americans were Richard Montgomery and Benedict Arnold. in the late 1775s the Americans attacked Quebec during a snow storm. Mntgomery was killed and Arnold was wounded. the Americas stayed in Quebec until may 1776 when british landed new forces in canada

    Ben Franklin said "we must all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately." Ben means that if they dont all stay togeather that they are better off not working at all. since the Declaration of Independence has become one of the worlds enduring documents. it still inspire the Americans today

    the commander was charles cornwallis. they had 800 troops. the Americans and the french lined up in two facing columns and the british marched glumly between the two columns and tossed their weapons into a large pile on the ground
