  • The Sugar Act

    The sugar act was created to tax foreign goods such as sugar, certain wines, coffee and more. It also controlled the export of lumber and iron. As well as the tax on sugars the tax on molasses created a decrease in the rum industry.
  • The Stamp Act

    The stamp act demanded tax stamps on many legal documents such as marriage licenses, deeds, wills, newspapers, etc. These documents had to be written on special stamped paper to show evidence of payment.
  • The Sons and Daughter of Liberty

    The Sons of Liberty was focused the most in Boston but was also in other cities. They were not afraid to use violence to scare a customs official out of town. As for the Daughters of Liberty, it was their responsibility to make sure women did not buy British goods.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    Colonists who were dressed as Native Americans dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    These acts were passed after the Boston Tea Party. It placed limitations on the colonists by outlawing things such as town meetings and closing the Boston Harbor. This is what finally pushed the colonists to revolt back.
