  • The Great Awakening

    The Great Awakening
    The Great Awakening was a christian movement that was expanded all over Europe and America. It affected the American Colonies the most. The religious enlightment helped the colonies to became closer and to start thinking about a future together. These were the first symbols of nationalism.
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War started on 1754 and finished on 1763. The war was between the British and the French for the Ohio Valley. The British did not want the French to be there anymore so they started a war. After eight years of war, the British won the war.
    During the war, all the colonies stayed together and helped each other. The nationalism keeps increasing.
  • The Royal Proclamation

    The Royal Proclamation
    It declared that Americans were not allowed to go to Ohio Valley until the British would know what to do with the Indians and the French.
    The Americans got really angry because they were who fought for the land and the British would not let them use it.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Sixy angey townpeople went to the Customos House. They threw snowballls and rocks to the guard. The British guard fired killing five people. After this, Americans realized that the British will use force if necessary.
    This event caused the Tea Act and the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    In 1774 the British passed a series of laws relating to the American Colonies.
    Quebec Act: Roman catholic church was established there and in Ohio Valley.
    Boston Port Act: Act to discontinue the British shipping.
    Mass. Government Act: Act regulating the government.
    Administration ofJustice Act: Impartial administration og justice in Mass.
    This caused the first Continental Congress on september 5, 1774.
