  • stamp act

    stamp act
    the crown decreed that the colonist must pay a high tax on stamps. this enraged the colonist. it was seen as unfair because they had no say in the government that emposed it and felt no connection to it. it was one of the first acts to spark anti-english sentiments
  • boston massacure

    boston massacure
    this event was a protest by english colonist against the crown and when the protest got too out of control soldiers fire into the crowd killing 5. this event was used as propaganda to draw supporters to the revolutionary movement.
  • boston tea party

    boston tea party
    colonist board english ships and dump tea into the boston harbor in protest to taxes. the colonist were dressed as indians to express their independance from english rule. this was the hallmark event which characterized the beginning of the revolution.
  • first continental congress

    first continental congress
    colonies meet to discuss rebelion. the colonist were fed up with colonial rule and at this meeting they discussed how to run the rebellion. how many troops they would need how they would supply them who would lead and so forth.
  • intolerable acts

    intolerable acts
    colonist designated that certain acts preformed by the crown were intolerable and that if the actions were not revoked then revolution was inevatable. an example of these acts included the quartering of soldiers in houses.
  • articles of confederation

    articles of confederation
    united the colonies under a common cause and gave them a basis for government. it was the first major step towards forming an independant government. it established a collective orginization to handel colonial affairs.
