    French and Indian War
    1754 to 1763 the cause of the war was land competition and for control of north america, trade routes, mostly for the fur trade. so they fought many battles in this war, for example, the battle of quebec, the battle of montreal, and the seziure of fort detroit. in the end the british win, and get the land east of the ohio river, they blame colonist for the war and punish them with taxes and abiding laws.

  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The sugar act lowered regular taxes, but made you pay a tax on sugar, which was a common item everyone used a lot of back them, so that made the colonist really mad. it was an indirect tax, so it was already in the price, the goal of the sugar act was to support the carribean colonies.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    this was a tax on all printed goods, they would stamp your items to show you payed the tax for them it was a direct tax, the colonist boycotted this by not buying printed goods, along with merchants wouldnt either, and after only one year the stamp act was repealed.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    English troops fired on colonists & killed 5 some say the colonist were antagonizing English soldiers by throwing rocks at them. They were very angry about the Townsend Acts. this makes a lot of the colonist dislike the king and all the soldiers, it starts a movement.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    as a result of the Tea Act, the colonists decided to have a sort of riot and throw all kinds of tea over the sides of the ship into the river dressed as indians because they were not happy that they had to pay a tax on thier tea.which was supposed to save the east india company, the only brand of tea that was aloud to be bought and sold. they lost 1-3 billion dollars worth of tea. the king made sure that all of boston was punished after this incident.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    There are little militias forming one in concord, and one in lexington, the king doesnt want them to try and overpower him so he wants to take them down before they get to strong, he sends his soldiers. the spy network sends paul revere to warn the militias, the first one in lexington has a small fight with them, which slows them down enough for concord to hide all their weapons by the time the british get there there is nothing for them to take.

    Thomas Jefferson was the author of the declaration it expressed the american opinion of how we wanted to be treated. it passed on july 4th. Dickinson was the only member of the congress that refused to sign it. once this thing had been all made and done, it was time for a real war, which is what we know as the revolutionary war.
