    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was an attempt to prevent the colonists from going west and passed the Appalachian Mountains.   • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act lowered taxes on molasses and sugar in an attempt to control the smuggling of sugar by the colonists and enforcing tax collection. Violators that didnt pay taxes were tried in an admiral court rather than a colonial court. Many American colonists felt like the act was an infringement of their constitutional rights, but the British government gained from this because the revenue helped them make up for money lost in the French and Indian War.     The Stamp Act was a tax mposed by the British government on American colonies to gain funds needed for military defenses of the colonies.     Townshend Acts
    Charles Townshend introduced the Townshend Acts which imposed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies. Many Americans viewed this as an abuse of power, resulting in the passage of agreements to limit imports from Britain. The British government was surprised by American protestation.
