  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    British Law, passed by the Parliament of Great Britain that would set a tax on sugar and molasses imported into the colonies. Colonists boycotted against English products, which caused the British to hurt them financially.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act raised revenue from the American Colonies by a tax in the form of a stamp required on all newspapers and legal documents. Colonists weren't happy so they took demonstrations to the streets.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    This Act required people from the colonies to provide food, drink, quarters, fuel, and transportation to British soldiers. The colonists disputed the legality of this Act, and the British found it difficult to convince them to pay for the housing and provisioning of the troops.
  • Townshend Acts

    This act put taxes on British goods including paint, paper, lead, glass and tea and used profits to keep British troops in America and to pay Royal officials who were put to work in the American colonies. The colonists were angry and the British and protested.
