  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was the first official tax from Great Britain on the colonies. It was the governments way to pay off some of the debt they gained during the French and Indian war. The act was later repealed in 1766. The colonists protested it with "No taxation without representation". Great Britain later repealed it.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory act stated that laws could be made binding to the American colonies specifically for any reason whatsoever. The colonists fought against it and ended up getting it repealed.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were a series of taxes on imported goods for the American colonies. They ensured that there were taxes on almost all import items.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The tea act was passed and it put a tax on all tea coming from Britain. It also declared that the colonists could not buy tea from anyone else. The colonists ended up putting a boycott on Britain's tea. Britain passed another act shortly after.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The stamp act was another tax declaring that various forms of paper products needed a stamp, which was bought and could be more or less expensive based on what the paper product was. The colonists fought against the act and Great Britain ended up repealing it.
