    The Black Death
    The Black Death, one of the most devastating diseases, killed millions of people in just a short period of time. It spread quickly from Asia, to the Middle East, and eventually Europe, they believe it started from rats.
    This disease helped people understand about sanitation and cleanliness. They realized that they had to get rid of their waste and pollution by building drainage and sewerage system.

    Portable Clocks

    Portable Clocks
    Portable clocks were invented by an Italian Filippo Brunelleschi. Back then, he was one of the famous architect. The clock was a spring-driven clock.
    This clock helped make it easier to transport around so that we could tell the time. With development, I guess the portable clock then developed into a wristwatch and now they have digital watches that you can set to timers, stopwatch etc. It is a more convenient way to keep track of time and it is also a fashion item.

    Printing Press
    The printing press was created by Johannes Gutenberg, a goldsmith. Before his inventions, monks wrote all the bibles and books. This made books very expensive and were a privilege for the church and nobility.
    After the printing press was invented people could afford books, so they could acquire greater knowledge. Nowadays, books can be made with greater speed and less time, we can print out from the computer and books can be printed out more decoratively with colour.

    Leonardo da Vinci

    Leonardo da Vinci was one of the most famous men during the renaissance period. He was a man full of intelligence and creativity. Da Vinci was a sculptor, architect, engineer, inventor, philosopher, musician, poet and painter. He had many ideas to create new inventions like the parachute, helicopter, machine gun etc. We could say he is a real renaissance man.

    King Henry VIII was one of the famous kings. He created a church of his own and the belief of Anglicanism. He created the church so he could divorce and get married with new women.
    This had a really big impact on the world, because religion is still believed today. People’s perspective of the world relates to how this religion is taught to them. Everyone’s personality also reflects on their religion and belief’s.

    Christopher Columbus, an Italian was an explorer, navigator, conqueror and a traitor. He sailed in the "Santa Maria" and found Amerca. He also found Cuba, Bahamas, Haiti and West Indies. America has become to be one of the leading countries in the world. It is known for its democracy and business. There are many big companies that are American based. Ex. Boeing, Apple, McDonalds etc.

    Mona Lisa Painted
    The Mona Lisa is a portrait picture painted by Leonardo Da Vinci. Da Vinci started this painting around 1503 and completed it about 1519. This is supposed to be a painting of Lisa Gherardini the wife of Francesco del Giocondo.
    The Mona Lisa is an iconic figure that everybody in the world recognizes. This painting has inspired many people over the centuries. People queue for hours just to see a glimpse of this picture at the Louvre museum in Paris, France.

    \Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina is an Italian composer who created sacred music for the church. He was one of the best known composers of that time. Simplicity, purity and sensuousness are the three words you would use to describe Palestrina's music.
    This type of music is important today because when people go to church, they sing prayers and open music similar to this. It has also inspired people to compose music similar to this.

    Andreass Vesalius a Belgium man, studied anatomy (the study of the human body) and created a book that shows how the human body works. He dissected humans and studied their insides and with this knowledge he created his book
    This book is really useful today because it has let us understand what the real human body; his cleverness on dissecting the human body inspired other people to explore the human anatomy. With his book, we have a better understanding of how all the organs work.

    William Shakespear is regarded one of the most famous writer in english language. He wrote plays, sonnets, poems etc. His writings became very unique and different and change the cultural way of writing. His books are still sold nowadays and some of them made into movies. His plays are very important until today because schools still teach about them. Since he changed the way of writing in his time, it influence others to write in their own style.

    Microscope
    The first microscope was invented by the Dutchmen, Hans Janssen and his son Zaccharias. They used numerous flea glasses and put them in a tube to enlarge images. Afterwards, another Dutchmen Anton Leeuwenhoek developed the microscope; with this device you can see bacteria.
    The microscope has helped our world view things in a different way. We can see tiny things human eyes cannot see. Doctor’s use them to study the structure of bacteria, better research, medicine, study humans
  • Flushing Toilet

    Flushing Toilet
    The flushing toilet was created by Sir John Harrington, godson of Queen Elizabeth the first. Before people would have to do their business in a pot and the servants would have to take it out of the house and throw it away for them. The flush toilet changed all of that.

    Types of Baroque MusicDuring the 1600, the baroque music became wide-spreaded or what we call popular. This is because "Florentine Camerata" a group of people started spreading different trends of music allover. I think that the baroque music helps people become more relaxed when you listen to it. These types of songs are played in orchestra's or duet or even played single in any instruments. People who are artistic can let out their emotions by playing
    songs like these without having to say a word.

    The telescope was invented by the German Hans Lippershey who stacked spectacle lenses together and put them in a tube. Then in 1609 Galileo Galilei made improvements to it, so now we can see other planets.
    I think the telescope helped people understand that earth was not flat, It helps people learn about outer space and maybe influence them to create space shuttles to visit space and it can let us see if there is an approaching comets.

    William Harvey, an English physician discovered the way blood circulates around our bodies by the heart. He also proved that blood flows in one direction.
    His discovery was significant in the way it changed the world because now doctors know about how the blood system works and it can help them have more knowledge, people learn more about the body.

    The adding machine was created by a 19 year old boy named Blaise Pascal from France. He made it to help his father, who was a clerk and he had to deal with a lot of numbers. Through time, the adding machine must have been developed into a digital calculator. It helps people calculate numbers faster. Now calculators are even online and the internet can even help you solve equations’ or math problems.
  • Chinese Abacus- 2600 BC

    Chinese Abacus- 2600 BC
    (the date was set so it can be closely compared to the Adding Machine. Real date on the title) This is also a type of calculator that the Chinese made during the 2600 BC to calculate numbers. It is known to be the oldest calculator in the history. Before, they device was needed to count animals, amount of people etc.
    The abacus used beads because before this was created, they used stones to count.
    The adding machine is more advance because you could just press numbers and it adds for you.
  • Review Renaissance

    In my own words, I would define the word renaissance as a restoration of arts and literature. It was the time period when people wondered about the world and tried to find answers. The time where people created new inventions. Renaissance means rebirth which would describe as the rebirth of peoples passion in inventing and knowledge.
