My parents continued to read to me daily throughout my pre-school years.

I remember my kinder teacher reading to the class as we all sat around her in a semi-circle.

I remember that my parents continued to read to me but we also shared books by reading to each other.

Even today, I still remember and can visualize my parents reading books, magazines and the daily newspaper.

My parents took me to the library every other week to return and check out new books. This continued until I was old enough to go to the library myself.

I remember my mom making a big deal when I got my own library card. It was considered a milestone in my family's experience.

I remember joining the summer reading program at the local library for many years while I was in elementary and junior high school. It was important in my family to always read. Reading was not a school subject but a leisure activity.

Once I graduated college, I continued my love of reading as I commuted to work each day. I always carried a paperback book in my bag and read morning and afternoon as the NYC subway took me to and from work every day. I usually completed 3-4 books per week.

As a wage earner, I usually spent a portion of my paycheck on building a personal library. I built a collection of favorite books and authors. My tastes in genres has changed over the years but I still love books.
