Reading Level Growth of 6th Grade Students

  • Pre-Test

    Students will take an online pre-test to obtain their beginning reading levels. Present this data to my teaching team and decide what “next steps” need to be taken and what Language Arts skills should be focused on.
  • Monthly Reassessment

    Student reading levels will be reviewed and compared against previous reading levels. Modifications will be made for students who are not showing any growth yet. I will meet with members of my teaching team to discuss modifications that are appropriate for each student.
    Students will complete graphic organizers in class and complete a minimum of 4 non-fiction articles and activities a week on Teenbiz.

Present this data to my teaching team and decide what “next steps” need to be taken and what Language Arts skills should be focused on. Also, compare this data to the Lexile scores from the Language Arts teachers. Present the findings at a staff meeting to share “best practices” for the use of Teenbiz and graphic organizers in class.
