    Reading Adventure Began

This was my first experience ever learning how to read, I remember being so excited that I could understand the words written in a little five page Dora The Explorer book that I got from the library.

After I first learned to read, my second grade teacher did not implement reading into her curriculum, therefore I was not keeping up on my reading skills. I lost all skills on reading.
  • Starting To Despise Reading

    Starting To Despise Reading

By the time I was in the third grade, we would have reading competitions with caterpillars on the wall. For every book you read, you got another circle added onto your caterpillar, if you didn't finish any books, you'd almost feel embarrassed for not having your caterpillar completed and you'd get punished. I got recess taken away from me almost every week for not finishing any books, this made me strongly dislike reading.

I avoided reading at all costs. I would read when I had to for educational purposes like school, but other than that, I wouldn't pick up a book. I felt discouraged and humiliated from my lack of ability and I didn't have anyone who was truly willing to help me.

I Can't Put The Book Down

This was my true turning point in reading. I found a book that I simply just could not put down. I would tell myself "I'll put it down after this chapter,". That chapter never came and I wouldn't put it down until the book was over.
  • I Turned Into A Book Worm

I Turned Into A Book Worm

I started reading all the time, but I expanded my love for books into not just poetry, but for anything that would give me a thrill. Crime or Suspense books were my new thing. I would buy book after book, and spend all of my free time reading.
  • My Collection Grew

    My Collection Grew

I love books. From the way they look, to the way the pages feel, to the words that are plastered on them. I buy books every change I get. I have three bookshelves full of all of the books that I've read, down to books I aim to finish.
