    I attended my first book fair and I loved the excitement that these book fairs caused about reading. It caused me to open my mind to different genres of books.

    After getting a taste of the fun spooky rush a book can bring, I was getting older and wanted something more scary. The Fear Street books became my next obsession and they brought me many hours of entertainment.

    Here is the most important moment in my timeline. When I first read Harry Potter, it was during a very hard time for my family. I have always used books as a form of escape but with Harry Potter, it was different. I was able to forget all of my problems and let the story take me far away. After this, reading became one of my favorite things.

    This year I saw the movie Lord of the Rings. I loved it so much, that it inspired,me to buy and read the entire series. After that, I began to see movies based off of books so I could compare the two.

    This year my parents got divorced and I had to move across town and change schools. I left all of my friends behind and it was really difficult starting over. During this time, I relied heavily on my books and would often prefer the company of a book over people.
  • High School English Teacher

    I had a teacher this year who was always encouraging us to read more and she would create fun reading challenges.
  • Friends

    After high school, I did not read as often as I did. My friends and I decided to read the same books at the same time so we could discuss them and it brought the fun back to reading.

    Being in college makes it hard to find time to read. When I do, however, I am reminded all over again why I love it so much.
