  • Before I was Born

    Before I was Born

    My two older sisters could not wait for me to be born. They were always reading to my mom's stomach while I was in there.
  • I began reading when I was 4!

    My mom has tons of stories of me reading to everyone that would come visit us at home.
  • Elementary School

    Elementary School

    Through kindergarten to fourth grade, I only remember reading a handful of books. I owned and read every book of the "Little Golden Books". I eventually upgraded and read all of the poetry books written by Shel Silverstein. I was intrigued with poetry and even read some of them several times.
  • Middle School

    We read books like Bleachers, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Giver, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Although I didn't like to read books in my own time, I really liked these that we read as a class.
  • Junior High

    Junior High

    For my Junior High years, it didn't get any better. This was the time when it was cool to always have magazines. So, I would buy all kinds of them, but mainly just so I could take the quizzes. Also, I would take out the centerfolds of my favorite crushes ever so carefully and pin them to the walls of my bedroom.
  • My Early 20s

    I read even less during High School, if that was even possible. It wasn't until after graduation and I had my first baby did I pick up another book to read for enjoyment. The next several years
  • College Life

    College Life

    Even my freshman year of College, which I didn't start back until I was 30, I found myself back in my old rut where I didn't want to read anything for pleasure. It wasn't until this semester having to take children's lit is this excitement for reading picking back up. It is picking back up in full swing too!
