Looking at reading through my past
-
First started 'reading', more like looking, at picture books and flash cards.
-
Started reading very simple sentences and reading short picture books.
-
Began reading chapter books and becoming a more advanced reader. Read a lot of the Magic Treehouse books.
-
Read Harry Potter and other advanced chapter books for 4th graders.
-
Read more books that I considered interesting. Mostly about sports and biographies or autopiographies of famous athletes. Read some non-fiction as well. Read items related to topic of certain projects during school.
-
More content specific reading related to class subjects. Still read books interesting to me such as: Any Harry Potter books out at the time, Lord of the Rings series, genre specific books (mystery).
-
This is where reading started to get really content specific and a lot of textbook reading. Still read novels, fictional stories, and other interesting books to me. More of the focus was on school related reading. Classic novels became really popular with me during this time and I still enjoy reading them.

Textbooks, textbooks, textbooks, literature, and then some more textbooks. Reading has become increasingly boring due to the textbook reading and content area reading. However, still read novels (Dickens, Sinclair, Doyle, Dumas, etc.) and I really love Rick Riordan books because Mythology fascinates me.
