    A new superintendent is hired who possesses a clear vision and focus on 21st Century learning, with a belief that all students can and will learn (and that all teachers can and will teach), holds all accountable for progress and does whatever it takes to ensure that RCSD becomes recognized as model district where students "beat the odds".

    RCSD Assessment Manager participates in county-wide assessment advisory sponsored and facilited by SMCOE
  • 2nd Lead Teachers CCSS mtg includes discussion of formative assessments

    Assessment has been see by both students and teachers as separate from instruction. This is the beginning of the shift towards the vision of fully integrating assessment with instruction
  • County-wide Assessment Advisory issues recommendations

    SMCOE-facilited assessment advisory issues recommendations, tools and ongoing support for the creation and implementation of formative assessments that support successful backwards mapping of essential CCSS.
  • RCSD Lead teachers draft CCSS CFA's and maps using web-based tool

    K-8 RCSD Lead teachers meet to draft common formative assessments and curriculum maps using web-based tool to test run during the 13-14 school year.
  • K-2 Prepares to implement CCSS

    K-2 Leads meet with all K-2 teachers to prepare them for CCSS implementation including the integration of teacher-made/adapted common formative assessments beginning August, 2013

    RCSD lead teachers and teams have created/adapted, piloted and revised CCSS common formative assessments at every grade level and have everything they need to implement CCSS with assessments. PLC system is firmly in place.

  • Area firms invest in and support RCSD's Technology vision

    Google and Facebook (whose headquarters are within about a mile of RCSD) become thinking and financial partners with RCSD with the aim of RCSD students and teachers leading the way in the integration of technology, teaching, learning and assesment. Teachers embrace their evolving role given student access to technology and RCSD revises the job description and title of teacher to be "Learning Coach".
  • RCSD is recognized as leader and model in tech integration

    Due to the dramatic rise in student acheivement and successful partnerships, RCSD is recognized as a model for technology integrated teaching and learning. Assessment is "real-time", fully integrated with instruction.
  • Learning Coaches check for student understanding in real time

    All Learning Coaches (formerly known as Teachers) have a deep understanding of Common Core Standard Essentials across grade span and subject and use technology tools to track ongoing formative assesments and coach students in real time. They know their students well because they have been working (teaching/learning) over a period of years.
