Soviets lanch Sputnik
On the 4th of October, 1957, the Soviet Union sucessesfully lanched Sputnik 1. This was the world first artifical satilite and it was about the size of a beach ball ( 22.8 inches in diameter). It took the satilite about 98 minutes to orbit the earth. -
