    Robert La Follette
    Rabert La Follette was elected gvenor of Wisconson. As Govenor La Follette battled an entrenched Republican establishment and had an outstanding reform record. He increased control over the railroads, modifications to the tax system, limitations on lobbying activities and the institution of conservation programs. He also prevailed upon the legislature to enact state civil service reform. He was known as the Wisconson Idea. IT fits under Political Machine.

    Muckrakers were very important during this time period because they were the people that really strived for and pushed for reform. The article "Tweed Days in St. Louis" is considered to be the first article.

    NCLC Created
    The National CHild Labor Commitee was created. They were a non-profit organization that helped child labor. THey faught for the childrens rights to work. It deals with worker mistreatment because of child labor during the time.
  • Industrial Workers of the World Created

    Industrial Workers of the World Created
    The Industrial Workers of the World rewas cated to help worker mistreatment. It was founded in 1905 by 43 represenitives from differnt groups to deal with worker mistreatment.

    The owner of a bake shop made one of his employs work overtime. The employee was not happy. The case went to court. It deals with worker mistreatment.

    The Jungle
    Upton Sinclair was mainly known for his role as an author. He wrote "The Jungle" which is a book that revealed revolting details about the meat industry of the time. I think it ties in political machine because of the effects it had.

    The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was created. This was a major advancement for society in making everyone equal. It deals with segragration.
  • Triangle Shirtwaist Fire

    Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
    The fire in New York City killed 146 workers. Most of the doors were locked so they could not get out. The large number of deaths exposed the dangerous conditions in the factories and prompted the creation of safer buildings, and safety codes around the United States. It fits in with worker mistreatment.

    The 19th admendment gave women the right to vote. The NAWSA pushed for it for a long time as many groups did. It fits in with women rights.

    18th Admendment
    It dealed with the proabition of alcohol. It deals with poverty because many people would buy it to make them feel better and it led them to poverty.
