  • Newlands Reclamation Act

    This act helped a lot with water quality and supply. It gave the United States more water spread out to the states that needed it a lot. This would fall under protecting social welfare because it caused the harsh dry, arid, lands to be less terrible and have more water. This was to help stop the conditions of those areas.
  • Coal Strike of 1902

    Many miners were striking against their companies for higher wages, better hours, and better treatment. This was a very big strike to push for better quality of life. This falls under protecting social welfare because it is about the jobs of the people and prohibiting dangerous scenarios and giving the workers better lives. It was to soften terrible things and even help the poor workers by giving them higher wages.

    This was a department that did not last very long but it was having to do with the concern of controlling big businesses. The department investigated businesses and dealt with labor concerns and aid in commerce. This falls into creating economic reform because people were questioning capitalism and wanted to have a department fix it by investigating big businesses and aiding in commerce.

    This was a case heard by the supreme court. The U.S. wanted to dissolve very many railroad companies that had created a monopoly. They wanted to dissolve the Northern Securities company. This falls under creating economic reform because it was people criticizing the way big companies are corrupt and how the economy needs to be fixed.

    The United States Forest Service is in charge of managing many forests and keeping the nature clean and alive. They do ecosystem management to keep the forests and plants all protected from dangers. This could fall under protecting social welfare because it keeps nice nature and good quality forests for people to enjoy.
  • Meat Inspection Act Passed

    This prevented bad meat to be sold to people and required more sanitary procedures. This also made sure that the livestock was even slaughtered in sanitary conditions. This definitely falls under protecting social welfare because it was made to better people's lives and help people enjoy their lives more. It alleviated harsh conditions.
  • Food and Drug Administration

    The Food and Drug Administrations helps people by protecting health and making certain of the safety of food and drugs consumed by humans. They make sure to help everyone by trying to give information about all foods and research a lot about human health. This falls under the category of Promoting Moral Improvement because the people wanted to make sure all of the people of the United States are healthy and have much better lives.
  • Children's Bureau

    This was made to help many children. They would help neglected or abused children and make sure that they are not living in poor conditions. This falls under promoting moral improvement because it made sure that the terrible conditions that children had were stopped.
  • Keating-Owens Act

    This was an act that made it illegal to ship goods manufactured by children across state lines. This helped a little but because people would stop using children for some of their work if they wanted to make more money and sell outside of state lines. This falls into creating economic reform because big businesses would have some more trouble being capitalists and earning a lot of money without children working for them.
  • System of National Parks

    This was responsible for protecting many parks and wildlife. It was created to help the environment and keep people from destroying it but also giving the Earth health and helping people by giving good nature and a place to go visit or see interesting nature. The falls under protecting social welfare because it gives the people of the country a better way of living.
