I think the goal was economic efficiency, because their wages were low, and they were fighting for higher wages and shorter days.
  • Northern Securities v. United States

    Was a case heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1903. The Court ruled 5 to 4 against the stockholders of the Great Northern and Northern Pacific railroad companies, who had essentially formed a monopoly, and to dissolve the Northern Securities Company. I believe this was the goal of economic reform, because there was an uneven balance of power between businesses. Also known as the game of monopoly.

  • Bureau of Mines

    Bureau of Mines was the primary United States government agency conducting scientific research and disseminating information on the extraction, processing, use, and conservation of mineral resources. The Bureau was abolished in 1996. I think this is the goal of creating economic reform because they were using scientific methods more efficiently.
