  • coal strike 1902

    in 1902 Roosevelts job was to keep society operating efficiently by helping settle conflicts, he put this belief into use when 150,000 workers wanted increased pay reduced hours and union recognition if the strike had dragged on, the nation would have had a coal shortage and many homes would not have been heated. Roosevelt solved this problem by threating to have the army run the mines.
  • meat inspection act of 1906

    this act is to ensure that there is no misbranding of meats and that meats are slaughtered and prepared in sanitary conditions to reduce the outbreak in diseases thru unsanitary meats
  • food and drug administration of 1906

    this act signed in at 1906 ensures that transportation of unlawful foods should not be transported throughout the United States and that on the food should be a label for all of the ingredients used in the food.
  • bureau of mines 1910

    this was mainly for the use of conducting research to enhance safety, health and environmental impact of mining and processing minrals
  • mann-elkins act

    this act signed in 1910 stated that railroads have to have reasonable rates. although the act did not specify what reasonable was many railroads did not follow this. but soon railroad companies had to prove the reasonable rates.
  • triangle shirtwaist fire

    a fire at a shirt factory mainly filled with women went up in flames taking 147 women with it. due to this fire the US made several saftey changes in the work places of americans.
  • children's Bureau of 1912

    Signed into law by Taft in 1912 the Children's Bureau ensures the right to protect childhood and to investigate and insure the best means for Children.
  • federal reserve act is passed

    the act signed in 1913 created 12 new federal banks to be looked over by the federal reserve board. the federal banking system is still in use today thanks to this law.
  • the 18th amendment is passed

    ratified in 1919 this amendment was used to show the banning of manufacturing, transportation, and sale of alcohol. This began the prohibition era which lasted until the 21st amendment in 1933
  • 19th amendment is passed

    in 1920 the 19th amendment is passed this gives the women the right to vote in the United States but you had to be a citizen of the US to vote as a women.
