    It was created during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt. This departments main goal was to control how big business was growing. This was part of creating business reform because they wanted to make sure big business didn't take over.
  • Meat Inspection Act

    Upton Sinclair exposed the meat industry in his book "The Jungle". By showing the unsanitary conditions the workers were in and how the conditions affected the animal. People demanded congress to make changes. This was part of creating economic reform because it regulated the meat industry.
  • Federal Trade Commission

    The FTC's main goal is encourage consumer protection. Consumer protection are laws that make sure consumers rights are protected. Such as the government making companies put nutritional information on food. To make sure the public know what they are putting in their bodies. This was part of creating economic reform because companies could no longer fool customers and had to disclose anything that could put the public in danger.
  • Keating-Owens Child Labor Act

    This act set specific rules for workplaces as to how long children could work. It stated that children under 14 could work a maximum of 8 hours a day. This was part of promoting moral improvement. This was a step direction for children and making sure the prioritized child safety over work.
