  • Coal Strike of 1902

    Strike of the United mine workers of america in eastern Pennsylvania. They wanted higher wages, shorter hours, and recognition of their Union. This helped the goal of protecting social welfare because these people wanted better jobs and to make their work day shorter so they ca rest more.
  • Newlands Reclamation Act

    It funded the irrigation system project that would make farming and living in the more arid states easier and more convenient. This goes with social welfare because it makes the peoples lives easier and lets people more across the country freeing up more space for people.
  • Northern Securities v. Unites States

    James Jerome and Edward Henery both wanted to buy the same company which resulted with both of them buying a lot of stocks in the company which almost lead the New York stock market to crash. This supports the goal of economic reform because it's proof that the rich have to much power in the economic scene if they can cause a stock market to almost crash.
  • Department of commerce and Labor creation

    It was a department in congress that was in charge of controlling the excesses of big business. This supports the goal of protecting social welfare because the government in stepping in to finally control a part of the big businesses.
  • United States Forest Service

    It was made to protect the environment from big business from tearing down the trees to make more factories and housing. This goes with moral improvement because saving the environment is a moral thing making the united states gain the moral high ground in a sense.
  • Meat Inspection act

    This act made it illegal to misbrand meat and meat products being sold as food. It also ensured that everything is under sanitary conditions. This goes with protecting social welfare because people were getting sick from eating unsanitary meat and with this law passed, people won't get sick from unsanitary meat.
  • Bureau of Mines

    They conducted research on processing and extracting raw materials. This goes along with fostering efficiency because they were researching ways to make the process of mining easier, faster, and better for the workers and everyone involved.
  • Children's Bureau

    It was made to help and protect children from dying and from working in dangerous conditions. This is in support of promoting moral improvement because children are suppose to be able to live their lives without much worry of work or if they are going to eat that day. This act helps with the work making it safer and after a while making it so children cant work until they are 16.
  • Revenue act of 1913

    It brought back government income tax and lowered tariffs from 40% to 25%. This goes along with economic reform by adding in a tax and lowering the cost of items coming from other country's by lowering tariffs making things generally cheaper.
  • Federal Reserve Act

    It created the central banking system of america and made the U.S dollar legal tender. This goes along with economic reform by bringing in a government bake and creating an official legal currency.
