  • Coal Strike of 1902

    workers strike for three days about higher wages and shorter hours. This event falls under creating economic reform because the businesses were taking advantage of the workers and were being greedy with the money, so power was being taken away from those big businesses.
  • Newlands Reclamation Act

    Public and federal funds from land sales were spent towards irrigation and land development projects. This falls under protecting social welfare because it was making living conditions easier for people who didn't have money.
  • United States Forest Service

    Created in order to support and manage forests. It was to save the resources of timber. Specialized men were apart of this service to save any many forests as possible. This falls under creating economic reform because it wasn't a big business greedy for money, it was to support nature and its forests.
  • Food and drug administration

    With the Pure Food and Drug Act, companies were not allowed to falsely label there food because it would not be shipped, manufactured or sold. This event falls under creating economic reform because big food businesses were not cheating their way into all of there money. They needed to be truthful in their products and maybe spend a little extra for the purpose of sanitation.
  • Meat Inspection Act

    The Agriculture Department had to inspect the meat before it was sold. It was inspected for the purpose of sanitation and how safe it was to eat. This falls under crating economic reform because businesses couldn't keep selling unsafe products and making money, their food had to be clean which may require more money.
  • Bureau of Mines

    This watched of mining companies, expanded national forests and protected waterpower sites from private development. It also increased other technologies for mining. This event falls under creating economic reform because it was increasing the production of coal and helping the business, without the business taking too much power.
  • Children's Bureau

    A policy that explored and publicized issues in child labor. The event falls under protecting social welfare because the Illinois factory act prevented child labor and softened the bad conditions for the children.
  • Federal Reserve Act

    Banks needed to keep part of their deposits in one of the federal reserve systems so their customers money wouldn't be lost if something were to happen economically. This event falls under creating economic reform because with this system, money is balanced out through companies. There will be no inflation if interest rates are raised, and the economy will still grow if rates are too low.
  • System of National Parks

    Looked over the environment and protected wildlife areas. It also developed national parks. This falls under creating economic reform because more money should be going towards protecting the environment, rather than making wealthy businesses more wealthy. Roosevelt had created a system where businesses couldn't own everything.
  • The Keating-Owens Child labor Act

    This act disallowed any children under the age of 14 from working in factories where goods were produced for interstate commerce. This event falls under protecting social welfare because the children were being protected from dangerous conditions.
