    This language was made for business, finance, and administrative systems by Grace Hopper. Its name stands for COmmon Business-Oriented Language.
  • BASIC

    Created by John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz, it was made to enable all students to use computers. It's name is an acronym for "Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code."
  • LOGO

    This language was created by Wally Feurzeig and Seymour Papert to enable "body-syntonic reasoning." It allowed people to control turtles and understand how they worked.
  • B

    This language was developed by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie. It was a streamlined version of BCPL for minicomputers, and the name is the same.
  • PASCAL

    PASCAL was designed by Niklaus Wirth to be a small and efficient programming language. It was named after the Frenchman Blaise Pascal.

    Created by Dennis Ritchie, this language is the successor to the B language.

    SQL, or Structured Query Language, is a specific language meant for managing a database. This language was made in 1974 by Donald Chamberlin and Raymond Boyce.

    ADA was created by a team led by Jean Ichbiah and was meant to be a universal language for the DoD. ADA is to acknowledge Ada Lovelace, the first programmer.

    This language is an improvement upon the C language and was made by Bjarne Stroustrup. The name is to show that it is better than C.

    Python is a general purpose coding language aimed at to be easy to read. It allows programmers to use fewer lines of code than other languages, such as C

    Visual Basic was made by Microsoft to be an entry level programming language derived from BASIC.
  • Delphi

    Made by Borland, this language's purpose was to make an integrated development environment for applications. The name is the original codename, and became the official name when another company released a product with a similar name.

    Jav is a code that is meant to be universal, in that it will run on all platforms, and was made by James Gosling and Sun Microsystems. The name is derived from java coffee, a beverage that Java's creators drank a lot.

    Made by Rasmus Lerdorf, PHP is a language created for web development, but also used as a general purpose language.
  • Javascript

    Created by Brendan Eich, Javascript is a browser-based language that's meant to work side-by-side with Java, hence the name.
