Continue to learn about new technologies via Pinterest and Blogger

I use Pinterest to keep track of some of my favorite ideas and websites regarding technology and other subject areas. The "feed" on my homepage is continually updated with links people I follow (other educators) find interesting. I have found this to be a great way to gather new ideas.
On blogger, I "subscribe" to my favorite blogs and am updated via an RSS feed on the new posts. Again, a great way to gather ideas.
  • Create a new Classroom Website

    Create a new Classroom Website
This goal came out of necessity. My classroom website for the past two years was made using iWeb, however, this software will no longer be supported. We have to use either Google Sites or GVC Sitemaker.
I created a Google Site. I spent a lot of time personalizing templates, creating graphics, & relearning HTML. I update this on a weekly basis with newsletters, student work, photos, etc.

    Use Twiddla in the classroom

Goal: Utilize Twiddla in conjunction with an iPad and projector to act as an interactive whiteboard. The iPad can be passed around the class for students to interact with the whiteboard. Students may also use it for collaborative work.

Have students participate in WebQuests, additional StAIRS, blogs, and creating digital stories

Goal: The purpose of this is to build students 21st-century skills. Most teachers in my building do not have the students utilizing technology outside of word processing, and possibly, Keynote presentations. Therefore, I want my students to start to see technology as a tool for collaboration and problem solving.
  • Period: to

    Utilize an LMS System

    Status: In Progress
This goal was set up in my original PLP. I worked towards it with my Wicked Problem Project by setting up my class, testing out the different accounts, and creating a more in-depth timeline for implementation. I'm planning on having students begin using it immediately. It will be used to communicate with parents and allow students to collaborate.

  • Parent Survey about Technology Available at Home

Parent Survey about Technology Available at Home
Goal: At curriculum night, I will give parents a survey about what technology students have access to at home. I will use the results of this survey to determine whether to have students engage in activities via Edmodo as homework.

Have class participate in Two-Way Interactive Connections in Education (TWICE) program for Where in Michigan?

Goal: The purpose of this program is to connect students across Michigan via videoconferencing who are learning about Michigan geography. According to the website, “Prior to the video conference each classroom will create a presentation with clues about their city or town. The other classrooms, using maps, the Internet, textbooks, and other resources, will try to discover the location." Will need PTO funding
  • End of the Year Surveys of Edmodo

End of the Year Surveys of Edmodo
Goal: I will give students an ease of use survey as well as readministering the writing attitudes survey to help determine whether Edmodo was an effective tool to use. I will also give parents a survey regarding their use of Edmodo and whether they found it to be beneficial.
