The sperm is making a journey to the ovaries to match with an ovum/egg.

The embryo's heart, brain, and spinal chord is developing quickly. The heart begins beating at the end of the month.

The arms and legs are becoming more defined, and color forms in the eyes and eyelids. The head is larger than everything else, and the brain is growing.

The embryo has now grown into a fetus. The fetus moves often but cannot be felt. Its bones are growing, its kidneys are functioning, and its fingerprints are developing.

The fetus forms fingernails and develops air passage but does not use it yet. Its umbilical chord is growing and gives the fetus blood and nutrients.

Hair appears, the lungs receive blood, and body hair and skin protective coat appears.

The fetus is very active at this point, and they can hear sounds.

The fetus gains weight and length quickly. The bones are soft, flexible, and developing. The lungs can support the baby.

The fetus is developing just the same as in month 7 and will continue to grow faster. All of it's lungs and kidneys etc. are mostly fully functioning.

The fetus moves into the birthing position with it's head down, nose to mom's back-bone.
