Prenatal Development

  • Conception-Month 1

    Conception occurs two weeks from that day when you're truly considered to be pregnant. Mood swings may start to occur, feeling more tired than usual is normal at this time. The baby is currently the size of a seed.
  • Month-1

    Early pregnancy symptoms include feeling tired, bloated, peeing more than usual, mood swings, and nausea. At this time the placenta forms which is a round, flat organ that transfers nutrients from the mother to the baby, and transfers waste from the baby. Also at this stage that the cells separate into three distinct layers, which your baby's internal organs and skin will develop. For the first month the mother should maintain a healthy, balanced diet to ensure a healthy fetus.
  • Month -2

    Nausea, vomiting, and food sensitivity may occur. If you haven’t already, you should make changes in your lifestyle so you and your baby will be healthy. You should stop smoking , drinking and using caffeine. In month 2 your baby's facial features continue to develop. Tiny buds that eventually grow into arms and legs are forming. Fingers, toes, and eyes are also forming in the second month of pregnancy.
  • Month-3

    Nausea may decrease,Your middle may widen, as the uterus grows to the size of a grapefruit.You may experience food cravings. As a pregnant mother at month 3 you should develop an exercise plan to increase strength and flexibility, which will help during labor. At this time your baby is now officially a fetus. All organs are present, and even fingernails are developing. Your baby is also moving his/her arms and legs, though you won’t feel it yet
  • Month-4

    By month 4 morning sickness starts to fades and energy increases. You may feel some quickening at this time, You also might develop some heartburn. At this time the baby’s face and heart are fully formed but the lungs are still developing.In month 4 your baby´s eyes will open.
  • Month-5

    You may have gained between 5 to 15 pounds by this time.Your uterus is now the size of a cantaloupe. And your appetite may have increased. This month your baby will develop fingerprints and permanent teeth buds behind fully formed baby teeth. Sex may be determined through an ultrasound within this month.
  • Month-6

    Your uterus is now the size of a basketball. The skin on your stomach may feel itchy as it stretches the skin around your growing belly. At this time you may have bleeding in the gums, constipation, heartburn and leg cramps. You’ll gain about a pound a week at this time. You’ll be able to feel the movements of your baby at this time. Also, your baby's eyes are able to open and close, vocal cords are now functioning, and finishing touches are developing like the eyebrows.
  • Month-7

    Your feet or hands may start cramping. Many women experience Braxton Hicks contraction within the 7th month. At this time your child can now see, hear and taste, and the brain and nervous system are growing rapidly. At this stage you should monitor your weight, blood pressure and urine.
  • Month-8

    At this time you may feel discomfort as the baby pushes on rib cage or organs. your skin may continue feeling itchy and stretch marks may appear. Braxton Hicks contractions become more regular. At this time the Lungs and brain of your baby are continuing to develop. The Movements of your baby may slow down because the baby doesn't have much room in the uterus to move around in. By the end of the month, most babies heads are down and descending into the pelvic area.
  • Month-9

    At this time you may be able to breathe a little easier as baby settles into the pelvis. Sleep will often become more difficult due to your size of your stomach. At this time your baby’s lungs are maturing, and he/she is shedding the layer of hair that protected him/her in the uterus. Your baby’s brain is growing a lot within this last month.
