  • Month 1

    Month 1
    At two weeks the baby is the size of a pin head.
    The egg has hatched into the lining of the uterous. This is the critical stage for spinal cord and brain development. The internal organs and circulatory system begin to form. The heart starts to beat.
  • Month 1

    Month 1
    The mother has missed her menstrual period. Other signs of pregnancy may not yet be noticeable.
  • Month 2

    Month 2
    The baby is about 1/4 inch in size.
    The face, eyes, ears, and limbs start to take shape. Bones begin to form.
  • Month 2

    Month 2
    The mothers breasts will begin to swell, pressure on the bladder from enlarging uterus results in need to urniate more. Possible nausea.
  • Month 3

    Month 3
    The baby is about 1 inch long as the month begins.
    Nostrils, mouth, lips, teeth buds, and eyelids form. Fingers and toes almost complete. All organs are present, although immature.
  • Month 3

    Breasts become firmer and fuller, may ache. Nausea, fatigue, and frequent urination may continue. Abdomen becomes slightly larger. The uterus is about the size of an organge.
  • Month 4

    Month 4
    Now the baby is about 3 inches long.
    The baby can suck on its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around. Facial features become more clear now.
  • Month 4

    Month 4
    The mothers abdomen will continue to grow slowly. Most of the discomforts of early pregnancy, such as morning sickness will usually be gone, and her appetite will start to increase.
  • Month 5

    Month 5
    The baby is about 61/2 inches long, and about 4-5 ounces as the 5th month starts.
    Hair, eye lashes, and eye brows appear. Teeth continue to develop, the organs are mature. The baby now becomes more active.
  • Month 5

    The enlarged abdomen will become apparent. The mother will begin to feel slight fetal movements. The increased size might start to affect her posture.
  • Month 6

    Month 6
    The baby is about 8-10 inches long and 8-12 ounces in the begging of month 6.
    Fat deposites under the skin, but fetus appears wrinkled.
    Breathing movements begin.
  • Month 6

    Month 6
    There will be more fetal movements, such as strong kicks, thumps, and bumps. Some may even been visible. Weight gain at the begginning of this month may total to about 10-12 pounds.
  • month 7

    month 7
    The size of th.e baby is now 10-12 inches long and weighs about 1 and 1/2 lbs.
    Periods of activity followed by periods of rest and quiet.
  • Month 7

    The mothers increase in size might start to affect her posture.
  • Month 8

    Month 8
    The baby is bigger now and is 14-16 inches long and weighs almost 2 and 1/2 punds.
    The baby begins to gain weight rapidly. may react to loud noises with a reflex jerking action. Baby will move its head into the down position.
  • Month 8

    She might begin to feel backaches, leg cramps, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Those are all common from the increase in size. Fetal kicks might disturb the mother's rest. At the begginning of this month, weight gain totals about 18-20 pounds.

    month 9
    The baby is about 17-18 inches long, and weighs about 5-6 pounds.
    Weight gain continues until the week before birth. Skin becomes more smooth as fat deposits continue. movements decrease as the fetus has less room to move around. Acquires diseas-fighting antibodies from the mothers blood. Decends into pelvis ready to bitrh.
  • Month 9

    Month 9
    The mother will begin to feel "lightening" which is when the fetus drops into the pelvis. Her breathing will become easier, but other discomfots will continue. A total weight gain of 25-30 pounds is typical. False labor pains may be experienced.
