    Nausea, fatigue, and frequent urination may continue.
    Abdomen becomes slightly larger. The uterus is about the size of an organe.

    Size: About 3 inches (7.6 cm) long, 1 ounce (28g) as month begins.
    Can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup and move around.
    Facial features become clearer.

    Most discomforts of early pregnancy, such as morning sickness, usually gone.
    Appetite increases.

    Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear.
    Teeth continue to develop.
    Organs are maturing.
    Becomes more active.

    Fat deposists under skin, but fetus appears wrinkled.

    Periods of activity followed by periods of rest and quiet.

    May react to loud noises with a reflex jerking action.
    Moves into head down position.

    Discomfort may result from increased size. Backache, leg cramps, shortness of breath, and fatigue are common.
    Fetal kicks may disturb mother's rest.
    At the beginning of this month, weight gain totals about 18-20 pounds (8.2-9.1 kg).

    Size: About 17-18 inches (43-46 cm) long 5-6 pounds (2.3-2.7 kg) as month begins.
    Weight gain continues until the week before birth.
    Skin becomes smooth as fat deposits continue.
    Movements decrease as the fetus has less room to move around.
    Acquires disease-fighting antibodies from the mother's blood.
    Descends into pelvis, ready for birth.

    "Lightening" felt as the fetus drops into the pelvis. Breathing becomes easier.
    Other discomforts may continue.
    A total weight gain of 25-35 pounds (11.3-15.9kg) is typical.
    False labor pains may be experienced.
