Preganancy and Prenatal Development

  • Month 1

    Month 1
    Mom: Missed a period.
    Baby: size of pin head.
  • Month 2

    Month 2
    Mom: Swelling of the breast, pressure of the bladder, and morning sickness.
    Baby: About 1/4 inch long, facial parts take shape, bones are beginning to form.
  • Month 3

    Month 3
    mom: Breast become firm and fuller, Sickness, fatigue, and frequent urination. The uterus is about the size of an orange and the mother is starting to gain weight.
    Baby: About a inch now. nostril, mouth, lips, teeth buds, and eyelids begin to form. Fingers and toes are almost complete. Baby has all organs though they are immature and developed.
  • Month 4

    Month 4
    Mom: Abdomen is still growing, most of the sickness is gone, appetite is increasing.
    Baby: About 3 inches. The baby can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around.Facial features are becoming more clear.
  • Month 5

    Month 5
    Mom: The mom will start feeling the baby moving, the increasing of the belly may start affecting posture.
    Baby: About 6 1/2 inches. Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear. Teeth are continuing to develop, while organs are maturing. The baby is becoming more active.
  • Month 6

    Month 6
    Mom: Fetal movements are strong kicks, thumps, and bumps. The moms has gained about 10-12 pounds.
    Baby: about 8-10 inches. Fat dedposits under skin but fetus looks rinkled. Breathing movements are beginning.
  • Month 7

    Month 7
    Mom: Size is still increasing and affecting posture.
    Baby: About 10-12 inches. Baby has periods of activity, followed by periods of rest and quite.
  • Month 8

    Month 8
    Mom: May experience discomfort due to weight gain, and body cramps. Has gained about 18-20 pounds.
    Baby: 14-16 inches. Weight gain is continued, and the baby may react to loud noises with a jerking action. Baby moves into a head down position to prepare for birth
  • Month 9

    Mom: "Lightening" is felt as the fetus drops into the pelvis. breathing becomes easier.
