The king had neglected the colonies until he noticed how successful they were becoming. They were ignored for so long then he started trying to control them by putting strict laws and taxes on them. He put a tax on sugar and molasses to try and limit the trade system the colonies had going.In turn the colonies started smuggleing sugar fron the French and Dutch west Indies.

The quartering act was put in place after the english left troops in the colonies to help combat the natives from attacking the colonist. The endlish expected the colonist to let the troops live in their houses and they also wanted the colonist feed them. This angered the colonist because they did not want to have to pay for the troops food or have them in their houses.

The battle of Lexington and Concord was what sparked the revolution. The British marched into Lexington and Concord with the intent of taking guns away from the colonist. The colonist did not like that idea so instead of handing over their guns they fought it out.

The petition was wrote the try and avoid battles between the colonist and the British. The letter stated that they were loyal to the king and pretty much just kissed up to the king but they ended up going to battle in Lexington and Concord.
