    The French and Indian war was a war between the British and the French/ American Indians. The British were not used to fighting this kind of battle, mainly because it was in the woods. The French and Indians would hide in the bushes and sneak up on the British because they were easy to see. They had their bright red coats, and the other side was more camouflaged.

    The Proclamation of 1763 made it so that no colonists could settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The Colonists were so mad about this so they moved west of the Appalachian Mountains, violating the Proclamation Line.
  • The Sugar Act of 1764

    The Sugar Act was a tax on foreign- made molasses in the hopes that the colonists would stop stealing, or smuggling the product. However, this did not help and the colonists still smuggled the molasses into the colonies.
  • The Stamp Act of 1765

    The Stamp Act made the colonists purchase special stamped paper for legal documents, license, newspaper, pamphlet, and the almanac. The Sons of Liberty, founded by Samuel Adams harassed custom workers, stamp agents, and royal governors. In October the delegates from nine colonies met in NYC to discuss this act.

    In March 1766, the Parliament repealed the Stamp Act; but on the same day they issued the Townshed Act.

    The Boston Massacre 1770
    The Boston Massacre started with a fight over jobs, and it started as a protest. Samuel Adams and other colonial activists named this confrontation the Boston Massacre saying it was a British attack on the "defenseless" citizens. However, everyone was at fault because they all started it. It was simply a protest that went wrong. That is how it ended up being a massacre.

    The Boston Tea party started when the Parliament passed the Tea Act, which was created to help the struggling English Tea companies. This caused an incident later known as the Boston Tea Party, the "Indians" dumped 18,000 pounds of the East India Company's tea into the waters of the Boston Harbor. People were mad about this Tea Act.
  • The Intolerable Acts 1774

    The Intolerable Acts 1774
    The Parliament responded to the Boston Tea Party by passing the Intolerable Acts. These acts shut down the Boston Harbor, the Quartering Act authorized Britain to house soldiers in vacant private homes, General Thomas Gage was appointed the new governor of Massachusetts, and finally to keep the peace, he placed Boston under martial law. This was a rule imposed by military forces. The Colonies moved into action by assembling the First Continental Congress.

    Since George Washington's army started decreasing, he decided to take the rest of his troops across the Delaware in the water. It was around on Christmas. There goal was to defeat the Hessian's.

    This battle had a three pronged British attack to split New England from the colonies. This war was very unorganized and unrealistic, however it was the turning point of the war. This war results in them getting French aid. Ben Franklin was responsible for the French alliance.
