    Leader of Tripoli declared war on U.S. President Thomas Jefferson sent Navy warships to Tripoli. Tripoli eventually signed a peace treaty favorable to U.S. This resulted in more Navy in the U.S.

    President Thomas Jefferson bought immense area of land west of the Mississippi River. This doubled the land area of the U.S and sent Lweis and Clark to explore it all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

    Battle of Trippecanoe
    European settlers convinced Native Americans to try farming instead of their native hunting traditions. The Battle of Trippecanoe took place in 1811 and the Natives were forced from their land in 1815.

    Presdient John Quincy Adams approved Tariff of Abominations. This made taxes on foreign goods more expensive. This caused the south to pay more for the manufactured goods than the raw materials.

    White settlers stole Indian land and forced thousands of Cherokee men, women, and children west in a 2,200 mile walk in what is now known as the Trail of Tears.
