On September 6, 1901 president William McKinley was Killed. Theodore Roosevelt was vice president at the time and became president after the assignation. The people liked Theodore, who was also well known as Teddy Roosevelt, so much that on November 8,1904 he was voted back into the presidency and became a very successful president that most people loved. -
What did Theodor Roosevelt do for America when he was president
Theodor Roosevelt made an good president for the United states. Teddy Roosevelt was a big outdoors person, he loved nature. He loved nature so much that he started the first national park and forest reserve. Roosevelt was also credited with the Square Deal. this was where they raised pay and shorten work days. Another thing he was credited for was the Pure Food and Drug Act. With out this act no one would watch what they put in meats or regulate narcotics. -
Sinking of the RMS Lustiania
the Unitied States had been traveling on British Boats to deliver goods. Germany did not like this and warned the United states to stop, the United States ignored Germany. on May 1915, A German boat shot and sunk R.M.S Lusitania a British Liner. They did this without warning the boat before hand. 1,198 died and 128 of them were Americans. This made President Wilson very angry and he demanded that Germany said sorry. He also threated to withdraw diplomatic recognition if Germany did again attack. -
When America Enterd the War
On April 2, 1917 president Wilson Declared War on Germany. America was not prepared for such battle, especially a big battle like this one. America faced some challenges on the way. Some of the challenges were not enough men, we needed men to fight. People would put signs up persuading people to join the war. When America did get enough men they then need weapons. Armistice Day
After a long hard war that killed thousands, it had officially came to an ended. On November 11, 1918 at 11:00 a.m. the fighting came to a stop. After all the lives that were lost the Americans named this day Armistice day and made it a national holiday. The word Armistice means A agreement to stop fighting kind of like a treaty. Today Armistice day is know as veterans day. The holiday was renamed after the Korean War to honor all the veterans who fought. -
19 Amendment
On August 18, 1920 it was a very important day for women. America's Constitution gave women the right to vote. after men having most all the rights this was a big leap for women.
