  • Founding of Jamestown

    Founding of Jamestown
    This affected us because many of our traditions and policies originated from Jamestown. These things then branched out from our first town. Jamestown was the first English Colony in Virginia. It brought very hard times for the settlers in the colony but helped shape our nation.
  • Plymouth Colony

    Plymouth Colony
    Around 100 English men and women went to Plymoth Rock on the Mayflower. It was the first permanent settlement of English people in New England.
    Plymouth was very important to us because rather than offer labor like the other colonies it provided beliefs and traditions we still use today such as Thanks Giving.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This war was an extension of the seven year war, but between the colonies. It was the bloodiest American war that took place in the 18th century. This affected our country by, making a great expansion of English land in the New World. It also had a major role in the colonies separation from English, and helped them declare Independence.
  • American Revolution

    The American revolution was a war that was the 13 colonies breaking away from the British. The colonies were upset due to the unfair rules and taxes so the British sent troops.
    This was an important event to us because it was our nation forming. This was the colonies becoming The United States of America and separating from Britan.

    The Boston tea party was people defying against the The British government by dressing as American Indians and throwing all the tea off the boat and into the Boston Harbor. This was the citizens responding to the Tea Act and helped start the American revolution.
    The Boston Tea Party affected us because it became an iconic protest in our history. It was one of the things that caused the American Revolution

    The Continental Congress was a group of representatives from the thirteen colonies that came together during the American Revolution. This was beginning of the government for the United States of America.
    This was important to us because they were coming together to discuss what to do about the British treating them unfairly. They began our government and helped from the nation.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence was made by the continental congress for the thirteen colonies during the revolution. It was officially stating that the colonies were independent from Britan.
    This was the official step saying that we were our own nation and not with Britain. Without it we weren't the United States of America.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation served as the first Constitution for the original 13 states.
    This is important because it was one of the first signs of our country gaining structure.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolutionary War between The US and Great Britain. Paris had made peace with other countries seperately as well.
    This is important because it helped end the war, and let our country learn from the past.

    Shays Rebellion was an uprising in Massachusetts due to economy struggles and taxes. Daniel Shay was a leader of the rebels.
    This affected us because it caused a new constitution to be considered. It also was a loss for the rednecks.

    The constitution framed the government for the U.S. It is our supreme law and it was made to replace the Articles of Confederation.
    The constitution is very important to us. It lays out our rights, the governments responsibilities, and many more very important laws our country relies on.

    He helped lead our country to be strong and powerful. He also assisted in the acceptanceof all Americans, and keeping our wars maintained.

    The Bill of Rights is the document that holds the Ten Amendments. These were created to limit the government's power and give morepeople to the people.
    This event was important because without these rights, our country would be more limited. We would also have more restrictions, and less power.

    The Cotton Gin is a machine that quickly separates cotton easier. It caused a growth in slavery in the south because they needed people to work the machines.
    Since it called for more slaves it was said to be a part of the Civil War starting. Therefor it greatly affected our history that led to today.

  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jefferson
    Thomas Jefferson helped organize the Republican/ Democratic Parties. He also bought the Louisiana Territory from France, and sent Lewis and Clark on expedition of the New World

    Louisiana Purchase
    The U.S. bought 823,000 square miles from the France. The U.S. paid 50 million dollars to France for the territory which was Louisiana.
    The Louisiana Purchase had a very large effect on the expansions and growth that formed our nation today. It doubled the size and formed many opportunities for trade.

    Lewis and Clark went on an expedition of the "New World" and were the first people to cross into the Western Part of the United States.
    This event affected us because without it, we wouldn't have half of our country, and other countries could have found it before we did.

    The War of 1812 lasted 2 and a half years and was a war between the U.S. and Great Brittian. The war began due to trade, territorial, and many other conflicts and resulted in many issues but overall no territory changes.
    The war affected us because nationally it have the US respect. Since they had survived a war against a great military. it also caused the invention of cotton machines due to the blockage of trade.

    James Monroe was the last president to be a founding father. He also bought Florida from spain, and extended our border to the pacific.
  • Missouri Comprimise

    Missouri Comprimise
    The Missouri Compromise was made between the pro and anti slavery sides. It said that no slavery was aloud north of the parallel 36°30′ north except within the boundaries of the state of Missouri.
    This affected us because it brought slavery to the attention of everyone and made them think about slavery in the future of new states, it made the country face the problem. This led to The Civil War that greatly affected our country forever.

    John Quincy Adama helped with the construction of roads, canals, aNational University, and a National Bank.
  • Andrew Jackson

    Andrew Jackson wasthe first and only president to pay off all National debt. He also was the forefather of the National democratic Party

    The Indian Removal Act was a law passed by congress. It said that the president could negotiate with Indians to remove them in exchange for the homelands.
    This caused the rights of Indians to be forgotten and them treated as lesser. Some things are still unjust to this matter today.

    William Lloyd Garrison was the founder of the abolitionist newspaper, The Liberator, which was published until the abolishment of slavery.
    This was important because he stuck up for African Americans because he believed that slavery was wrong. He voiced his opinion when noone else would.

    The Trail of Tears was the forced relocation of Native Americans from southeastern parts of the United States. The name comes from the removal of the Choctaw Nation though other tribes also experienced it.
    Many Native Americans died and suffered through diseases during the removals. It took away their rights and caused unfair treatment up to today.

    Nat Turner was an African American slave who led a rebeliion that resulted in the death of 55 white people. The whites then killed 200 african-americans in return.
    This was significant because it was one of the many events that helped lead up to the abolishment of slavery

    It was an event in the Texas Revolution. 1500 Mexicans marched into Texas to retake Texas.
    It affected us because many Anglo Americans were taken to jail so the war began.

    It was a belief that aMerican Settlers should expand throughout the continent.
    This pushed people to Accomplish and redeem the west which helped form our full country.

    William Henry Harrison was the first whig elected as president, but he dies one month later. John Tyler was the first vice president to succeed his dead President.

    The Mexican War was an armed war between The US and Mexico over the territories. It lasted a year and a half and America occupying California and New Mexico.
    This war was very important to us today because without the war California and other territories could be apart of Mexico as apprised to the US.

    Martin Van Buren enforced the Indian removal act of !833, removing Cherokee Indians from their homes and relocating them. This later was known as the Trail of Tears.
