    Lovable Pups
My first true joy of reading comes from the book Because of Winn Dixie. The first time I read it I was fascinated; I think I enjoyed it so much because I was able to connect with the main character. Opal, the little girl of which the novel was about has a dog, Winn Dixie, and this dog acted as Opal's best friend. I had a childhood dog, Gretchen, who I genuinely considered to be my sister and best friend. It seems extreme, but I actually do not remember anything in my life before Gretchen.

During one of the many times I was grounded, I discovered the Magic Tree House series. Unlike Because of Winn Dixie, there was no way I could relate to these books, but because the adventures Jack and Annie experienced were so incredible and imaginative, each and every book captivated me the whole way through. The extreme places and people Jack and Annie met throughout their journeys were things I could have never come in contact with so reading about them made my imagination soar.

In middle school, I was introduced to true required reading, but interestingly enough it was enforced by my Grandmother. Each week I had to read at least one week- but the books could be of my choosing. Through this time, I found another fascinating book series, The Goosebumps. I think because my mom is enthralled by mysteries, the books in this series were right up my alley. Though the stories were not based on true mysteries such as murders and robberies, I loved trying to solve them.

    Enjoyable Scholastic Reading
After the required reading from my grandmother, I was introduced to school required reading. Though this reading was not by choice, I had a selection of which I could choose a book from. One of these books included Fever 1793, a book that I still have in my possession today. After evaluating the most enjoyable reading I have experienced, I realized that I loved books that pushed and motivated my imagination, such as this book where I had to visualize living in the 1700's during s plague.

In high school, I truly became aware of my passion of reading. I was introduced to the book Something Borrowed. This book truly ignited my love of reading and getting lost in a story. Even though this book was not educational whatsoever, it truly showed me how placing yourself in a story within a book can be simply the most enjoyable feeling possible. It was then when I truly wanted to read and looked for books to read. I now started to actively searched for books to read outside of school.

As I go through my college career, I am always shocked how my reading genres expand. I've read from romance to sci-fi to mysteries to historical fiction- the most shocking I enjoyed. The Paris Wife has been the only historical fiction novel I have read, but I cannot wait until I get my hands on another book from this genre. I was the most intrigued reading the novel knowing the events actually happened, and I could relate to them- the best part was, this book was about Ernest Hemmingway
