My older brother would always read me stories and my favorite one would be Barney. I was obsessed with Barney so he would always read me the same Barney book everyday before I went down for a nap, when it was time for bed, or when he was trying to get me to calm down. And only he was allowed to read to me, I didn't like when anyone else besides my brother reading to me.

This is when I started kindergarten and learning the alphabet. I was in the dual language program at my elementary school and I was able to recite the ABC's in English and in Spanish.
-
In kindergarten I also began looking at picture books. My teacher would have me explain what I thought was happening in the story. At first I tried reading a book with words but I wasn't quit ready for that so my teacher started me with picture books that had no words.

When I started first grade I still had trouble with reading and could not follow along in class. My teachers almost had my mom place me in a special education classroom but after awhile I started getting the hang of reading.
-
By third grade I was stuck at reading below grade level. We would take Star tests and book quizzes and I could never pass them or get a decent score on.
-
In 3rd grade I was placed in a reading group and while in this reading group was when I really started excelling in my reading.

In 5th Grade my Math teacher would read to us after lunch. She was an amazing reader and made reading fun. She would use different accents and even let some of us read and do an accent. It was pretty fun.

In the 6th grade was when I began to enjoy reading. In middle school we had different subjects and one of those subjects was reading and that is where I did most of my reading. This is when I found a liking to reading.

This was probably the first and last book I actually enjoyed reading. It was called Sizzle. This book just hooked me from the very first page and I haven't found another book like that one.

My senior year of high school was the first time I read to a class. This was probably the last time I have read a book to someone and the last time I have even read a book.
