    The potsdam conferance is arguably what began the cold war, near the end of World war II, Harry Truman, Winston Churchill and Jospef Stalin discussed the plans for Germany after The war, Stalin wanted control of a buffer zone between germany and the Soviet Union, Stalin promised to give the countries he occupied free elections, but he did not keep his promise, as they stopped elections in Poland, and banned the creation of Democratic Parties
