    Was developed by both Sony and Philips. This device was able to store much more data then floppy disks and could run a CD inside of it. This lead to the advancements in storage, gaming, audio, and video capabilities.
  • DVD-ROM

    DVD-ROM
    This is an optical disc storage, this product was invented and developed by Philips, Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic. These were the same size as CD-RW but had a lot more space unfortunalty data can only be read off of these instead of written onto them.

    This is a rewritable optic disc requiring more sensitive lasers and a completely blank disc.
  • DVD-RW

    DVD-RW
    Was invented by Pioneer. The primary advantage of the DVD-RW was the ability to read and write. It was also very popular because of its non-volatile ability and if data was written wrong it could be erased and re-written.
  • Blu-Ray-Rom

    Blu-Ray-Rom
    Being the latest technology it still had the same size as past Cds and DvDs the biggest differences was amount of writable space and the kind of laser need to read and write on this disc. The new laser was a red laser with a longer wavelength. The Blu-Ray disc was invented by Toshiba.
