McVeigh buys a 1977 Mercury Marquis as his getaway car at a Firestone Store in Junction City, Kansas. He then checks into the Dreamland motel and gives an address in Decker, Michigan.

McVeigh picks up the 20 foot Ryder Truck from Elliott's Body Shop in Junction City Kansas that will hold the bomb. He rents the truck under the name Robert Kling.

At 9:02 a.m. the bomb explodes infront of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

At 10:20 a.m. McVeigh is arrested during a traffic stop for being in possesion of a firearm.

At 11:30 a.m. the vehicle identification number of a rear axle belonging to the Ryder truck is found. Employees at Elliott's Body Shop assist the FBI artist in creating two sketches of the suspects.

Authorities release the sketches of the two suspects calling them John Doe No. 1 and John Doe No. 2. The manager of the Dreamland Motel in Junction City Kansas identified John Doe No. 1 as McVeigh.

The FBI investigates the Decker, Michigan address given on the hotel registration and find out Terry Nichols has lived there and knows Timothy McVeigh from the army.

Nichols surrenders after learning that authorities are looking for him and he is held on a material witness warrant. Federal Agents later take him into custody.

McVeigh is identified as the bombing suspect and charged in the bombing. He is taken to the federal prision in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Nichols is charged in connection of the bombing.

McVeigh's friend Michael Fortier and his wife Lori testify before a grand jury.

A federal jury indicts McVeigh and Nichols on murder and conspiracy charges.

Attorney General Janet Reno authorizes the death penalty in McVeigh's and Nichols' case.

Judge Richard Matsch rules to seperate the trials of McVeigh and Nichols.

The Jury finds McVeigh guilty on 11 counts including conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, use of a weapon of mass destruction, destruction by explosive, and eight counts of first-degree murder.

McVeigh is sentenced to death by lethal injection.

Terry Nichols is found guilty of conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction and eight counts of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of eight federal employees. He is not found guilty of destruction by explosive.

Michael Fortier is sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined $200,000 for not warning authorities about McVeigh's plan.

Terry Nichols is sentenced to life in prison without parole.
