Starting today the MOSAIC club will be working on our rain barrel from 3:40-4:40. The artistic rain barrels from the 25 participating schools will be displayed starting April 23 & 24 at Mason's Founders Hall. The rain barrels will be judged and auctioned off
at Mason's "Earth Week Community Fair" featuring Green Living Expo" at our Arlington Campus on Saturday April 26, 2014, 10am to 4pm. -

Civil War re-enactor to visit every 4th grade classroom to share the life of a Union soldier including uniform, gear and marching drills.

The Poet Susan Mockler will be visiting the 2nd grade at Oakridge and doing a reading for them. She is a Professor of Literature, and Science Writing at Marymount University as well as a Poet and Freelance Writer/Editor.

6:00 - 8:00 at George Mason University Arllington Campus Art Gallery. We will celebrate the beautiful rain barrel creations at a special exhibit opening and reception on the evening of Wednesday, April 23. We’ll invite the community and enjoy light refreshments. Please plan to attend and encourage the students, teachers and staff of your school to do so as well. This is a celebration of our fun project. The MOSAIC Club of Oakridge created a rain barrel inspired by the book Our World of Water

This year’s STEAM Night and Science Fair is April 24th. The A added to the STEM acronym is for arts integration. In the photo last years students are at the paper airplane aeronautics station getting building tips in preparation for their test flight. Parents are welcome to attend.

Rain barrels, includeing that Oakridge's, will be on display and community will be invited to VOTE for their favorite design. Top 3 judged barrels from Friday and the “People’s Choice” will be announced at the fair. Water Management Inc. will award cash donations to the winning schools. Science on a Sphere5th Grade field trip to Goddard Space Center to see the amaz-tastic 3d globe projection called "science on a sphere".

The 5th grade visits the NASA goddard space center in Maryland to observe and interact with the "science on a sphere" technology.
